About Us

About strands.cc

strands.cc is an independent, fan-run daily guide site for NYT Strands players. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to The New York Times Company in any way.

Who We Are

My name is Lenzing, and I run strands.cc

I started playing NYT Strands when it launched in 2024 and quickly became obsessed — not just with solving the daily puzzle, but with understanding why certain grids are brutally hard and others click in seconds. What makes a Spangram satisfying? Why do some themes feel elegant while others feel unfair?

After spending months playing every day and documenting my solving process, I built this site in early 2026 to share what I had learned with fellow puzzle enthusiasts.

I bring a genuine daily-player perspective to every guide, tip, and hint post on this site. When I rate a puzzle “hard,” it is because I personally got stuck on it. When I recommend a solving strategy, it is one that actually improved my own results.

What We Cover

strands.cc publishes fresh content every day across four main areas:

Daily Hints — Our progressive, spoiler-friendly hint system for each day’s NYT Strands puzzle. We reveal as little as possible  nudging you toward the answer rather than giving it away. Start with our gentle hints, move to structural clues, and only look at the full answer if you really need it.

Strategy Guides — In-depth articles on how to solve Strands faster, how to find the Spangram, how to unlock hints without wasting moves, and how to improve your streak.

Puzzle Archives — A growing reference library of past Strands themes, spangrams, and solutions — organised so you can revisit puzzles, study patterns, and track how the game has evolved.

Game Reviews and Comparisons — How does Strands stack up against Wordle, Connections, and Spelling Bee? We cover the full NYT puzzle ecosystem from a player’s perspective.

Our Approach to Hints

One thing that frustrated me about most hints sites was the all-or-nothing approach: either a vague tease that told you nothing, or a full spoiler dump that ruined the satisfaction of solving.

We use a progressive hints system. Every daily post is structured so you can stop reading the moment you have enough to move forward. You choose how much help you take. The solve still feels like yours.

Our Commitment

We update every day, publishing hints before or shortly after midnight Eastern Time when the new puzzle drops.
We never reproduce the NYT puzzle grid directly — we work from our own solved sessions and original screenshots.
We clearly label all puzzle answers with spoiler warnings so you can read at your own pace.
Our difficulty ratings (1–5 stars) reflect genuine daily play, not guesswork.
